Shining New Habits

We all want to achieve greatness in our lives and in order to do this, we need to make and work towards shining new habits. I have been talking a lot about habits of late with clients…well lets be honest, I talk about it a lot in general because it is the core of what I do as a health coach. Habits are at the absolute centre of our behaviours. It’s what, why and how we do what we do. We create patterns that we repeat. Now some of these patterns are good ones, for example; cleaning our teeth, drinking water etc. Some, well not so good….ending up in the same dysfunctional relationships, eating the same foods that don’t make us feel good,  saying yes to things when we really want to say no, etc. When we see the same things in our lives happening time and time again that are not serving us so well.. well, these are patterns we need to recognise and break them. New Year, New Beginnings!

Hi and welcome 2017, I am so excited to start this new year, its new goals, hopes and challenges and everything in between. I won’t lie though, the end of last year didn’t quite end as calmly as I would have liked(family medical emergency). But one thing I did do at the closing of last year, was make a big decision that I had been mulling over with for some time and now I’ve made that decision it has left me feeling excited, nervous, positive and weird, all at the same time. What’s that decision? Firstly, let me start by saying that before I set goals for the new year, I always feel it’s important to reflect on what has happened throughout the previous year, success’s, failures, challenges and triumphs then everything in-between before I set new intentions and goals. I like to ask myself- what did I learn from the year/experiences? what could I do differently? would I change a thing if I could? and if I could/can make changes, what would that look like? Then, how will achieve these changes? The thing that screamed out …
