Creamy Avocado Dressing

Who doesn’t like a good creamy dressing? This one will certainly hit the spot. Can be used as a substitute for mayonnaise, especially if eggs are a problem. It also contains wonderful ‘good’ fats, with the use of avocado and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Contrary to previous popular belief, not all fats are the same, nor are they all classified as bad. Fat is a major source of energy and helps your body absorb nutrients from foods. Avocados contain naturally good fats; in fact over 75% of the fat in avocados is good fat with 3g coming from monounsaturated fat (MUFA) and 0.5g from polyunsaturated fat per 1-oz serving. Extra virgin olive oil is fairly nutritious.; It contains modest amounts of Vitamins E and K and plenty of beneficial fatty acids. This is the nutrient content of 100 grams of olive oil (1): Saturated Fat: 13.8%. Monounsaturated Fat: 73% (most of it the 18 carbon long oleic acid ). Omega-6: 9.7%. Omega-3: 0.76%. This post has my top 8 tips for you to sleep like a baby! A good night sleep is so essential to our health and wellbeing, It will make us function at our best, feeling rested and clear. I am someone who from time to time, has had sleep problems. Mostly, I sleep really well, but I go through bouts of sleeplessness.  I have little tricks and routines that help me achieve a well rested nights sleep. Below I have listed some of these strategies. There are important reasons for us to have a restful sleep as many restorative functions occur whilst we are in our slumber. Our body goes into rest and repair mode, creating muscle growth, protein synthesis, neurotransmitter restoration, as well as tissue and cell repair. In children it is key for hormone production and brain development. I thinks that’s pretty important! Slow Down

It is so easy in these busy lives we lead today, to have the tendency to overcomplicate things. So much of what we do is our choice. The job that sucks every ounce of energy from us. The endless list of activities our kids are enrolled in, the committees, sports, extra housework, helping out friends, family, neighbours, dog, all to the exclusion of our own needs- it’s all stuff we said YES too. But perhaps we need to ask ourselves “how is this really working out for me?” The more stressed out, overwhelmed, exhausted and frustrated you feel at not having time for yourself to slow down and reenergize, the greater the disconnect between your mind and body and more than often, less productive. So if everything in your world right now is telling you to STOP! SLOW DOWN! Then, it’s time for you to simplify. To practice saying NO, put up some boundaries and set aside some time for you. What is it that stops you from asking for help or assistance? What is it that blocks you from deciding, taking and embracing change? Is it- resisting the acceptance that things need to change? Is it- fear of change? because right or wrong, what you are currently doing may not be serving you well nor working but it’s what you know and there is a security and safety in doing what you do?
